This is a picture of me at an NFL game on Sunday. It was a home game for the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. I’ve been raised a Colts fan, but didn’t really actively pursue it myself until high school. It’s a me-and-my-dad thing. We watched a preseason game this year, we text during the games during the school year, and over my fall break we decided to go to a home game.
This photo was taken halfway through a busy day. It was taken an hour after I entered a stadium full of 65-70,000 people. It was loud and personal space was optional at best.
I went the entire rest of the day there-another probably 4-6 hours. I was anxiety free the whole day. My dad and I were in the nosebleeds, and the only time I felt a little squirmy was when I was climbing up there.
And to top it all off, the Colts won for us! We’re 3-3 for the season. Our rookie quarterback scored both of our touchdowns, the Browns missed an extra point, and we got to yell at the refs a lot. It was an exciting game, with a lot of things you don’t often see in the NFL. I am just so glad anxiety didn’t ruin it for me. Last fall, I had to leave a basketball game I went to with my whole extended family during the first half, and couldn’t go back in.
I’m so excited to stop letting anxiety control my life!
